Lip augmentation with fillers

Both lips may be smaller than the patient desires; sometimes improvement of the balance between both lips is requested. Mainly in the upper lip a distinguisment can be made between thin lips by nature and the gradual thinning and flattening of the vermillion that are caused by the ageing process.

The simplest treatment consists of filler injections at the office. The effect of bio-degradable products can be readjusted by further injections. If a reaction to the filler would occur, the problem will slowly fade away as the body digests the filler material. However, this treatment has to be repeated to maintain the desired volume, generally after six to eighteen months.
