Wrinkles - Filling

Wrinkles can be treated by injection with fillers. This is a good treatment for most wrinkles in the face, and for some folds like the nasolabial folds between the upper lip and the cheeks, or the marionette folds between the lower lip and the cheeks.

Fillers can be biodegradable (the body can digest it slowly) or permanent. When permanent fillers become infected through the skin pores they sometimes have to be surgically removed. Migration of fillers has also been observed. Therefore biodegradable fillers are the safer option.

The injections are performed in the office without or under local anaesthesia. Only fine needles are required.

Sauna and tanning should be postponed for a week. There are no other limitations to activities after the treatment. In most areas irritation after this treatment is hardly perceptible, although bruising and swelling may occur. Under the eyes and in the lips swelling may persist a long time.
